Today we introduce you to the uber cool @jurikooo. She is a yoga instructor, Ironman finisher and maven for @lululemonjp. She also recently founded @igniteliving a yoga studio in Japan
You completed an ironman race not too long ago. Could you tell me a bit about that? It's a race consist of 2.4 mile swim, 112mile bike ride and 26.2 Mille run. It was by far the hardest thing I've done mentally and physically. It taught me really you can accomplish anything if you put your mind into it. I love racing so I've done a few marathons and quite a few triathlons without training but this one I really had to focus and train.
What are some of the tricks you used to keep going when you wanted to give up? Focus on breathing and I had a mantra I kept repeating in my head. I also thought about all the people in my life.
What advice would you give to someone thinking of doing an ironman? EAT A LOT during the race and have fun!
What are some of the things you have learned by working with lululemon Japan? I learned
What core values and principles do you think are important to live by? In a game of truth or dare what do you pick?
What do you think is often the difference between people who are good at what they do and people who are great at what they do? Not only that people who are great at what they do love what they do, but they know what they are great at. Knowing your strength and your unique quality that makes you YOU is the key.
What is one talent or strength of yours, which has been critical to your success? I think I'm pretty good at connecting with people authentically and being good at drinking helps.
What are some of the lessons you have learned from teaching yoga? People don't remember what you say but they remember how you made them feel. I always think about how I want my students to feel after my class. I used to get nervous about what to say in class but now I try to be my self and just give positive vibes. Even if I say some stupid stuff, that's me.
What are your thoughts on meditation? Meditation is something we should all practice. It's scientifically proven that will enhance your life. I think we are constantly getting so much stimulus and absorbing all the information. Meditation helps you to clear your mind and reset. Helps you to reconnect with yourself. Since I started meditation daily, I can trust my instinct more.
You seem to spend a bit of time in California, what do you love most about coming here? I have some people I wanna see. Also I love going to all the fitness classes and yoga classes. I get inspired when I'm in California.
What is the sweatlife? #thesweatlife is the amazing life I live right now. I try to exercise everyday not only for my physical health but because it feels good. I want to be the best version of me as I can be, and sweating helps me to let go of things I don't need. It makes me remember who I am. I'm in much better mood and I can focus better. It's also about the authentic and real connection you make when you sweat with people. You are truly you when you are sweating your ass off on a hard hike, on a run, or whatever workout you do. You can't lie you are sweating and that's why you can connect with people. I love that.
What are some of your goals for the coming year? 2018 is going to be awesome. I'm gonna create something cool.
What is the best advise you ever received? People don't remember what you said but they remember how you made them feel. So be authentic
