Why the name yellow108? The name Yellow 108 is inspired by sunshine. Yellow #108 in the Pantone book of colors is a bright and sunny yellow. Yellow is the color of the sun, and sunshine makes everyone happy. It’s science.
What are some of the unforeseen obstacles and challenges you have had to overcome in operating your own business? Both personally and professionally. Running a business where you are responsible for the livelihood of other humans is a massive responsibility I do not take lightly. I would say my greatest challenge is always maintaining the ability to guide, listen, and provide regardless of other humans gratitude or perspective. To be the most honest and raw, I have a really hard time giving my all to my team when it’s not received as that. I’ve learned to let go of expectations and to enjoy “giving” without necessarily receiving gratitude or understanding which has not been an easy place to get too. My work/life is personal to me. I never get to clock out. It’s my life. So I have to be EXTRA mindful of life balance. I have to make a point to be active and healthy and do non work activities that are mindless and carefree. Recharging is the single most important part of being a leader so you can keep your strength and emotions balanced and focused on the bigger picture. By nature, humans instinctually operate in “survival mode”. But we are just making beautiful things over here at Y108 and Howl, we aren’t saving lives, so reminding my team that this is supposed to be fun also reminds myself. It’s actually that simple. =)
What are some of the things you do to maintain a work/life balance? Travelling, outdoor activities, live music, smiling, laughing, dreaming… all things that keep me balanced and happy.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of starting their own business? You have to trust and believe in yourself 100%. If you don’t believe in yourself no one else will either.
What is the best advice you have ever received? Everything is an energy. You have to stay open to receive. Worry and fear do not allow you to stay open and further prolong the very things you’d like to receive. I know it sounds too simple and easy but it’s actually difficult. I’ve worked on this for years and years and I am living proof that it’s true and it works.

What has been your best investment? The only thing that comes to mind here is consistently working on myself to be the best human I can be.
What do you think is often the difference between people who are good at what they do and people who are great at what they do? You have to take the time to continually adapt and change. Nothing is the same forever. So maintaining the ability to change is so crucial.
