Where did you catch your very first wave?
Manresa State Beach, 2003. It was late spring, the dolphins were jumping and the water was shimmering.
How does one cope with change?
Change comes in different forms, but it never stops. So we must learn to adjust, pivot, or redirect. Get comfortable in the unknown- life can shift quickly. Stay flexible and not attached to one outcome
What is success?
Success is when you are able to find balance, have solid boundaries, and feel aligned with where you are at in the moment
When was the last time you felt bliss?
Everytime the sun touches my skin, everytime I walk into the warm ocean, everytime I can pause-take a breath - and remember - life is what we make it
If you had one memory you could carry with you for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Where I grew up in Northern California we had a field that would bloom with wildflowers every spring. I would go lay out in the field for hours.
What is the biggest realization you have had about yourself?
Whatever you are chasing, release your grip on it. Let it breath, whatever it is- it is also trying to find its way in the world
What are your thoughts on the ocean?
The ocean acts as a mirror. It reflects light, but it also casts shadows. Recognize in yourself what healing needs to be done, and wash it clean in the ocean.
What are your thoughts on surfing?
Surfing gives me the chance to connect with my emotions. Some days I get out of the water feeling on top of the world, other days I'm humbled by the ocean. It's a lot like life in a sense. My goal is to smile through all of it
What has been the hardest lesson you have had to learn in your lifetime?
Being compatible doesn't always mean being fullfilled and happy.
What does balance look like for you?
I've been able to find balance by figuring out what makes me happy- and making that a priority in my life- ie. Surfing, Yoga, Dancing,

What is Freedom?
Freedom is that moment you decide to paddle for a wave. Paddling into the unknown- with so many complex factors. It's the moment you stand up, realize you need more speed and cross step to the front of your board. Freedom is ten toes over the edge. I'm still working on freedom
